FHIR INTEROPERABILITY EXPERT - 13039
Anywhere, USAAs a FHIR Interoperability Expert, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing FHIR-based systems to ensure seamless data exchange across healthcare platforms. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, clinicians, and compliance specialists, to deliver scalable, secure, and compliant solutions that align with industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop FHIR-based APIs to integrate government, payer, EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Oracle Health), and third-party applications.
- Implement FHIR APIs to enable secure, standardized data access for healthcare applications.
- Map and transform legacy healthcare data formats to FHIR standards for system modernization.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA and ONC/CMS interoperability rules, where applicable.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to align FHIR solutions with real-world healthcare workflows (e.g., patient care, billing, population health).
- Troubleshoot and optimize FHIR implementations for scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Stay updated on FHIR standards (e.g., R4, R5) and contribute to internal training and documentation.
- Support the development of provider- and patient-facing applications and analytics platforms using FHIR resources.
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment of FHIR-based solutions in cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in healthcare IT, with at least 3 years focused on FHIR implementation.
- Proven track record of integrating EHR systems using FHIR APIs.
- Experience with FHIR API development.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulation and clinical workflows and healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7 v2, CDA, SNOMED, LOINC).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
- Expertise in JSON, XML, and FHIR resource structures (e.g., Practitioner, Facility, Network).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and API management tools.
- Knowledge of secure data exchange protocols and healthcare compliance requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with technical and clinical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
